Bonnie's new rival

It's the new 2011 Kawasaki W800. Another bike that probably won't make it to Canada, ever... what a pity. Triumph beware, this lady will make for an interesting competition. Also, this retro bike reminds me of my good ole Yamaha SR500.
The limited choice of new or used bikes in the Canadian market is somewhat frustrating. Maybe I need to return to Europe every once in a while, at least to get a look and feel of those other wonderful models out there...

And while I am at it, I am going to check out one of those... the 2011 Moto Guzzi V7 Racer. Oh, you sexy thing.

  1. I miss my SR500. It was the ideal of simplicity I was reaching for with the Bonneville and attained after a fashion. They sold them in Asia up to 2008 as SR400's (for tax and licensing purposes reduced by 100cc). Much has been made of the W800 but I'm not sure what it offers that ten years of the Bonneville line doesn't...

  2. The Kawasaki is a flawless beauty, and does rival the Triumph for exceptional good looks, with a tach as standard.

  3. I forgot that Kawi was coming out with the 800. I wonder how long before Triumph releases the 450 cc they are rumored to have in the works.

Sorry we missed you at the show - we looked for you but I think there were just too many people to find you in the crowd.

    Happy riding.

  4. Mmmmmm...... the Kwakka is very nice in its own right but with an alloy tank, single race seat and clip-ons, it would be fantastic!

Regarding the Moto Guzzi, are you trying to make Roger fall over, foaming at the mouth??? ;-)

  6. @Conchscooter: I still prefer the Bonnie, of course. But I bet that the Kawi will be price wise interesting.
@Jack Riepe: The Kawi is a looker, indeed.
@Troubairitz: A 450cc Triumph? Curious. You couldn't know, that we were around. It was a last minute decision. We will certainly meet again.
@Geoff: You got me, I thought of Roger when and his shopping plans, when I came across the V7 racer.
@Ken: Thanks for stopping by. I wonder if it might just be too late for Kawi, to ressurect the W series. The trumpet has quite a head start.

  7. I must admit that the Guzzi looks pretty good. I don't think I'd be comfortable riding it but it does look good...

  9. You seem to share my taste in bikes, if these are your choice. I ride a Bonnie currently, but I have seen the W650 and though it was pretty good. I also have a taste for singles - my drudge bike is an XT600. Thanks for visiting mine. You have a nice blog here and I have added you to my list of reads.

  10. @RichardM: Comfy? The Guzzi? I don't think so. But pretty nevertheless.
    @Bluekat: Me too, Kari
@Richard: Thanks for stopping by, and please come back. My brother still has an XT600 Yammy probably for the same purpose you keep your's around ;-)
