There was no view to admire, and the temperatures of only 8C (46F) produced an instant craving for warm beverages, so we turned around.
One of our favourite north Van joints is the Bean around the world Cafe. We found a parking spot directly in front of the building.
While Roland enjoyed an excellent coffee, I got to sip my soy chai latte, and nibbled on a gluten free vegan cookie.
After riding through the wet white soup we were warming up nicely in the morning sun.
Roland is getting better with every mile on the 'big' bike, and the painful stretch of Highway #1 was no issue at all (much more stressful on a Vespa I tell you).
Meanwhile I get used again to the additional weight coming with the bucket seat, sissy bar and windshield, the Sporty's touring equipment for our road trip next month.

I like fog and I love the first photo. Very nice. I'm glad Roland's relationship with the
ReplyDeleteBurgie is coming along nicely. The photo of him, the Burgie and the Sporty is one of the nicest photos I've ever seen of a Burgie. I love the specs of the Burgman and the ride, but it just doesn't speak to me. Too bad, since it is one of the few bikes/scoots that do what it does.
Looking forward to hearing all about your road trip. Ride safe.

Thanks so much Keith. The Burgy is not my cup of tea either, but Roland feels so comfy on it, and he finds it very easy to handle. I am just so happy that he found a ride that fits his needs and skill level so well.
DeleteWow, you really hit some fog. Good call heading back into Vancouver to warm up.
ReplyDeleteBean Around the World. Excellent name for a coffee house and the cookie looks delish.
Roland looks like he is enjoying new new ride. I am glad he found one to suit him.
Rover is looking pretty stylish with the back rest and windscreen. That seat looks pretty comfy too. Lots of cushion. You are almost race ready.
The coffee house is really lovely, and their cookies are marvelous. They also serve veggie wraps but it was too early for a lunch menu.
DeleteThe Sporty looks so much bigger with the additional 'decoration'. It's much heavier too. And the seat is cosy like a La-Z Boy chair.
Pea soup?
ReplyDeleteWould that be the appropriate British expression for this weather phenomenon?
Deleteyupp!
DeleteMushy peas are altogether a different phenomenon!
Great that the bikes are getting a workout before the long trip. So happy that Roland is enjoying the Burgman! He looks good with it!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lori. I am so glad that he seems to like it.
DeleteI don't like riding in fog, my least favorite of all weather patterns. Great to see you both out together though.
ReplyDeleteMe neither, the low visibility is nothing good for my claustrophobic mind.
DeleteI'm with Roger, hate the stuff so good on you both. Road Trip - those magic words that cause the stomach to turn over with anticipation. Very much looking forward to reading about it!
ReplyDeleteThe road trip will be far from epic but I hope just about right to get Roland hooked.
DeleteI'll be Kiwi number 3 to add my thoughts on fog: I'm with Roger - it's the worst weather of all! I prefer not to have to ride by Braille!
ReplyDeleteWell, a good sense of hearing might help when you ride by Braille ;-)
DeleteI really dont like the looks of that fog, I've never ridden in it (touch wood) and I dont really want to .. the best thing I can see about that ride was the company and the warm beverages at the end :)
