As a community we felt the need to commemorate the life of Bob in a special way, and David (Scootcommute), a scooterist from Montreal came up with a fine idea.

On one of his visits in Vancouver David received a gift from Bob, it was a wooden scooter. For more on the back story click here. This is when Scooterbob's travels began. It came to Montreal and then, similar to a baton, it was handed over to Michael, when he was in town.
Michael (Conchscooter) lives in Florida, and the presence of the wooden scooter should come as a surprise to Bob who had plans to travel to Key West in 2015. Alas, while this dream of Bob's will never come to pass, Scooterbob's journey is just about to begin.
We will be sending the small wooden scooter on its way, blogger by blogger, to whomever is willing to participate. This way we will honour Bob's life and dreams.

I'll be taking ScooterBob to above 14000 feet when it gets to me!
ReplyDeleteSplendid idea, Dom. I am not sure yet where I will take him just yet, it will depend on the time of the year.
Deletelove these guidelines!!! its unfortunate to need them, but, its needed. i experienced disappointment when flat wooley disappeared, which was after his delivery from me to marilyn/chessie was confirmed. so for that reason, im not going to participate here (sigh). but, im sure that scooterbob will have far better successful travels, as long as everyone complies with the guidelines. :)
ReplyDeletesafe and smooth travels scooterbob! i'll be following... :)
Well you know, BobSkoot went missing, and ScooterBob it just a wooden trinket. If ScooterBob goes missing in action it will only be the more poetic. Stuff happens as they say. So don't let the fate of flat wooley dissuade you from guiding ScooterBob. Hey, look at it this way, a) it's traveling care of the postal service so the odds are it will go astray, unfortunately, and b) the odds of it happening to you are astronomical, plus c) you could hedge the risk by buying a lottery ticket :)
DeleteI can hardly wait until ScooterBob makes his way back to my neck of the woods! Sonja looking forward to your adventure with ScooterBob.
ReplyDeleteDar, I am sure everybody is wanting to be as creative as possible (within reason), like... if Bob would have visited himself...
DeleteI think I can see him blushing about all the attention, but he would have loved it.
ReplyDeleteBrandy, Bob was the guy who would have reacted very shy to this kind of attention, but of course he would have loved it.
DeleteLooking forward to ScooterBob's adventures in Germany!
ReplyDeleteOctober Fest?
Deb, I have tentative plans of traveling to Munich but it might not be that time of the year when I get there.
DeleteToo bad! We celebrate Oktoberfest all month of October here in Cincinnati! LOL
DeleteForgot it focused in Munich there. I was there in "Munchen" when I was 10 years old and danced on a table top like Shirley Temple! :=)
I agree with Brandy! What a lovely way to honour Bob's memory though and perhaps provide some comfort to Yvonne and family if she sees Scooterbob's travels. All the Kiwi Land guys will do their very best to make sure that Bob's spirit has a wonderful time down these parts
ReplyDeleteGeoff, I am looking forward to whatever you guys will have in mind for the traveling trinket.
DeleteI mailed it/him last Friday and the USPS (which has never lost anything of mine) no longer offers the ultra cheap surface rate to Europe so it should be there soon. Hope for the best...
ReplyDeleteLet's wait and see Michael. Got a tracking no. for me to follow?
DeleteGlad to hear that SkooterBob is on his way. Thanks for the detailed directions Sonja. I will be watching for your post. Bob would have loved this I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteI am sure he would have loved it, Karen. As per David Scooterbob's schedule and itinerary are not written in stone so we'll go with the flow, and people's availabilities.
DeleteSounds perfect, will await his arrival in Ontario.
DeleteBob will drink coffee with me at the Cat and Fiddle inn, it's the least I could do in his memory.
