Instead I spent much time on my feet, walking on every occasion rain or shine, three miles a day, and on the weekend often more. The daily exercise combined with a rigorous change in diet, has lead to healthy benefits such as weight loss, a good night's sleep, and improvement of overall wellness.
The every day walk has become easy after overcoming what we call the 'Innerer Schweinehund' in German (along the lines of 'fighting the inner sloth'). At times I would come home from an outing in the dark, soaking wet, half frozen and dirty, just happy for it to be over, and on other occasions I would go the extra mile, just to enjoy the evening light a little longer.
Life is good!
