Three Miles a Day for 90 Days

I admit it. The weather kept holding me back from riding. Yes, I occasionally scootered around on Paolo but I didn't bother awakening my Sporty.

Instead I spent much time on my feet, walking on every occasion rain or shine, three miles a day, and on the weekend often more. The daily exercise combined with a rigorous change in diet, has lead to healthy benefits such as weight loss, a good night's sleep, and improvement of overall wellness.

The every day walk has become easy after overcoming what we call the 'Innerer Schweinehund' in German (along the lines of 'fighting the inner sloth'). At times I would come home from an outing in the dark, soaking wet, half frozen and dirty, just happy for it to be over, and on other occasions I would go the extra mile, just to enjoy the evening light a little longer.
Life is good!

Could it be?

Spring? Fair weather and balmy temperatures are calling for an early weekend. We saddle our steeds and hit the road.

Open up your eyes and see the brand new day
The clear blue sky and brightly shining sun
Open up your ears and hear the breezes say
Everything that's cold and gray is gone

Taste the wind and smell the flowers' sweet perfume
Open up your mind and let the light shine in
The earth has been reborn and life goes on.

RidersWest... an Interview

I recently had the pleasure to be interviewed by Kristen, a writer for the Online Magazine RidersWest.

Check it out.

First Outing together in 2012

Different schedule or adverse weather conditions or other odds such as our trip to Germany or the woman flu kept us from riding together this year. But finally we made it. The temperature gauge on Bella showed no more than 4C (39F), but what the heck.
Although temporarily put in hibernation mode the scooters woke up on first push of the button. The roads were still wet and slippery with debris from the most recent windstorm.
The parking lot was empty. So we used up all the space for ourselves.
It was no more than the usual quick 'after work around the block' trip. It got chilly real quick, and there was a stiff breeze. But it felt so good to be out together again.
Could it be spring?

Mugshot, sort of

Trobairitz called for the patiently-waiting-for-spring-challenge. Sorry, that it took me so long to figure out how to use that bloody webcam.
The rider's patience is really being tested as the weather continues to change between rain, snow and hail.

Raider of the lost... Shadow

I got the All-Clear. It wasn't the man-flu, just a very nasty bug, that decided to hang out with me for a while. I am feeling better now, and although not yet back on two wheels, I am back on my feet.
 Sorry, no motorcycle content today.
I walked the meadows, following a hint of light...
... but the world remained grey.
My shadow? Nowhere to be seen.
I looked everywhere, walked miles in open spaces...
... but that darn thing kept eluding me.
Watched something else instead, a coyote making smalltalk to cows. How now brown cow? The rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain.
These majestic birds were quite unimpressed with it all. They didn't know where my shadow went either.
All I found today was a mere reflection in a puddle. But hey, I am baaack!

Can a girl have the man flu?

My little nephew likes to share... and now I have the sniffles, and I am not feeling too peachy. All I want is stay in the house, hide under my blanky with a warm water bottle, read a book, occasionally sneeze and cough, sigh and groan, and been served lots of hot tea or hot chocolate.
