Guadalhorce, Guadalteba, and Gobantes reservoirs

We had in it in our minds to visit the famous Caminito del Rey (the little trail of the king), but on watching busloads of tourists to be unloaded at the visitor center we opted for a road trip and less crowded place somewhere by the water on our last day before departure. 

The Reservoirs are a trio of man-made lakes situated in the Desfiladero de los Gaitanes Natural Park, near El Chorro and the Caminito del Rey. These reservoirs form one of the most picturesque water systems in Málaga province with stunning turquoise waters. It's allowed to go for a swim, SUP, dive or kayaking, but no motorized boating is allowed, making it a wonderfully quiet venue. 

Our last supper consist of leftovers. We had a great time. 

Tomorrow we are going back to reality.

Giants' playground

Over 1,700 hectares of layered karst pillars, built from shells and calcium deposits, shaped by nature, and thus creating a mystical stone garden.

The El Torcal de Antequera nature reserve is one of the most impressive karst landscapes in Europe and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2016. These surreal limestone formations in the province of Málaga were formed over 150 to 200 million years ago by the lifting of the seabed and subsequent erosion. 

We spent several hours exploring these amazing rock formations.

On our way back to our glamping tent we get some groceries, again marvel at the low prices of fruit and veggies, and spend the evening enjoying the stunning view over the Alora valley.

Glamping at its best

After so much culture we craved for some solitude, and found it in the hinterland of Malaga, not too far away from the town Alora. The road trip to our final vacation destination before returning home showed us some more beauty of the Andalusian countryside.
