The sun does not have the power to warm up the cool forest, so although we need regular short stops to catch our breath we do not break into sweat. But we have a couple of strange encounters in the forest...
Someone carved a figure into a tree. Must have been there for a few years, but we never noticed it before:

A very rugged looking free-running hen looking for some food in the leaves. She looked pretty hungry, so we did not try to approach her:

You have chickens running amuck in the forest?! Amusing. Nice pics, glad you're having some great weather for walking.
ReplyDeleteI cannot say that a chicken in the forest would be your usual sight, that's why I was also a bit surprised. There was a farm with a few chickens in the area, probably this one was a runaway!

ReplyDeleteI finally started raining here as well in the last few days. Desperately needed! It is very nice to have dry, sunny weather in November, but nature needs something else!

ReplyDeleteI would be much too scared grabbing a chicken and carrying it home, being a city slicker myself. But a fresh egg every day does sound nice!
DeleteVery nice! We got the first dump of snow in the last two days, all looks fresh and clean now, highway was closed for two days. Time to get our winter gear out.
ReplyDeleteWinter is getting closer here as well, some snow is expected in higher areas of the Black Forest. Our car is winter-ready already, we are considering trying some cross country skiing this year. If we are not too lazy...
