Hike-minded - Wandern im Sinn

Again I spent weekends hiking the many trails around our new home while often discovering new things, learning about history, architecture, flora and fauna on the fly (or respectively: on the walk).

Wieder einmal konnte ich mich an den Wochenenden auf verschiedenen Wanderwegen der Region tummeln und dabei so ganz nebenbei wieder Einiges über Geschichte, Architektur, Flora und Fauna lernen.

I met up with other hikers in the Hunsrück area in order to accompany a long distance hiker for a few days. Her project is a Germany thru-hike by means of a combination of a variety of different hiking trails adding up to almost 3,400km or 2,100 mi. Three months ago she started at the northernmost point of Germany (Sylt pensinsula) and - if everything goes to plan - will arrive at Germany's southernmost point at the Austrian border (Haldenwang corner) early October. The unofficial trail called the NST (North to South Trail) had been initiated by a YouTuber going by the name of Soulboy. 

Ich traf mich mit anderen Wanderern im Hunsrück, um ein paar Tage lang eine Langstreckenwanderin zu begleiten. Ihr Projekt ist die Durchwanderung Deutschlands von Nord nach Süd, dabei kombiniert sie verschiedene existierende Wanderwege zu einem großen Trail von fast 3.400 km Länge. Gestartet ist sie im April auf Sylt, Anfang Oktober will sie am Haldenwanger Eck an der Grenze Österreichs angekommen sein, wenn alles weiterhin gut läuft. Initiiert wurde dieser Nord-Süd-Trail von einem YouTuber mit dem Namen Soulboy. Hier findet Ihr alles zum NST.

Also I explored the Palatinate wine region on the other side of river Rhine some more. The so called wine trail showed me yet again the softer side of Germany, with vineyards galore and lots of panoramic views.

Nebenbei hatte ich Gelegenheit, die Pfälzer Weinregion auf der anderen Rhein-Seite zu besuchen. Der sog. Pfälzer Weinsteig führt dabei oft durch Weinanbaugebiete und zeigt einmal mehr die liebliche Seite meines Heimatlandes.
