Yesterday had us sun bathing, today we got snow, hail and rain. Yet our visitors still wanted to visit Heidelberg (who wouldn't want to?). So we spent the day in town, visited the old city core, admired the restored old bridge and the famous castle which presents itself completely without scaffolding for the very first time in decades. Despite adverse weather conditions and temperatures around freezing point it was well worth the visit, and bonus: fewer tourists.
Cool photos as usual Sonja! Where did the green parrots come from? In NZ, we do have small native parrots similar to these but they are increasingly threatened by Australian Rosellas which have either escaped from captivity or have been deliberately released.
ReplyDeleteThank you Geoff. These feral parrots are probably descendants of some escaped ones back in the mid 60s, and they adapted so well to our climate that they now populate the whole Rhine valley.

ReplyDeleteIch sehe, das Wetter bei euch ist ganz ähnlich wie bei uns. Trotzdem zeigst du schöne Bilder, mit ganz besonderen Stimmungen.
ReplyDeleteWenn ich dran denke, vor fast 50 Jahren habe ich mal in Heidelberg übernachtet. Wenigstens an die Brücke auf Bild 2 mag ich mich noch ganz schwach erinnern :-)
