The marketing is strong with this tourist attraction, and it has been voted as one of the top 10 must-do's when in Austria. This is what it says on the Krimml Falls Website:

400.000 visitors a year are a lot, and proper management is a requirement. One spectacular toll road leads to this place, parking doesn't come for free, there is a museum for an entrance fee, and of course visiting the waterfall isn't free of charge either. It's a bit like Disneyland, but in a fairly good and sustainable way.

Well, yes, there might be greater, higher or larger waterfalls, but this sight is indeed quite spectacular through the eyes of a European visitor, and fairly easy to access and to hike up. Two thumbs up!

Ach, ich glaube mal, das Lauterbrunnental hat genügend spektakuläre Wasserfälle zu bieten. Dafür brauchst Du nicht nach Österreich. LG SonjaM

ReplyDeleteYou're very welcome, Geoff. These places are fairly close to home and easily reached by car or public transit. We still hold back on air travels, and are happy with what we find within a 3 to 5 hours drive.

ReplyDeleteHi Kari, it was a bit crowded on the bottom but the farther you went up the less people were present, also because it had started raining.
