Many of those castles are in private hands, and sometimes even lived in, so access was very limited. However, they are impressive to look at.
Man that is a lot of castles in that area! I bet they're not cheap to heat!
ReplyDeleteMost of them have been renovated up to code and turned into smaller apartment units, hence heating will be not that big of an issue. Besides, those who chose to reside in such a venue won't have to worry too much about energy bills.
DeleteImmer wieder faszinierend für mich, so historische Bauten. Da wird immer so eine spezielle Atmosphäre ausgestrahlt, das kommt auch in den Fotos rüber. Gerne habe ich mir diese tollen Bilder angeschaut, danke!

ReplyDeleteNo, the castles are often in private hand of aristocratics (or Sheiks or Russian oligarchs), only few are government (province) owned.
