Christmas markets pop up in every village, town and city. We like the smaller venues, they are less crowded and often seem more authentic. The atmosphere is nice and friendly, the food is usually very tasty, and don't forget the Glühwein, grog or punch (there are even non-alcoholic options available). Here we are near Ahrweiler enjoying a walk through the bare vineyards, then rewarding ourselves with delicious goodies.
Another day, another location, this time we visited the Uferlichter (shore lights) installation on the banks of river Ahr in the town of Bad Neuenahr.
Nice header and also that first pic!
ReplyDeleteThank you Dom, intriguing lights this time of the year but not enough time to get to good vantage points. Cheers, Sonja
DeleteThat really is a nice header picture. Kind of "Scooter in the Sticks" vibe with the single tree. The festivals look nice. Not too crowded, good food. I like the Christmas season.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Richard. Comparing it to Scooter in the Sticks photography is an honour. Smaller markets are not that crowded and a good way to get into the spirit. Cheers, SonjaM
DeleteChristmas markets in Europe - doesn't get any better than that Sonja. One of our friends and her daughter actually flew from NZ to Germany a few years ago to attend the markets and spend Christmas there. She wasn't disappointed.
ReplyDeleteEvery good wish to you and Roland for the festive season and have a spectacular 2024!
That's some reason to travel all the way from NZ, Geoff. Very dedicated folks. Merry Christmas and a Happy and healthy New Year to you and your family. Cheers, SonjaM
DeleteGreat photos. I love all the Christmas lights. I would love to visit during this time of year.
