I had a week off from John Deere as they were in shutdown for summer, and hubby took me back to where I left off last time. We spent the weekend close to Toul, and I went hiking while Roland enjoyed hanging around in our camp spot at the river Moselle and just being my trail manager.
The first day took me along the riverside and away from Toul.
I came across the war cemetery of Choloy. All those crosses... people from this region.
My hike took me to the countryside and through tiny villages.
A happy pilgrim!
A very rare architectural gem: the round shaped chapel of St. Martin in Vigny.
The village of Vaucouleur, founded around the 9th century during the Carolingian dynasty, had been an important powerhouse in medieval times with a huge fortification of 17 towers and 4 gates. Alas, not much of it has survived the battles of the past.

LG SonjaM
