No worries, we are fine, but for some dogs, it may seem that way, so we plan on turning fate for one specific canine with the warrior name Hilda. Hilda is a guaranteed pedigree free shepherd dog-pinscher-terrier-something-mix and approximately, eight years of age.

She had been taken to the local animal shelter by the police because her master was found dead in the apartment. Hilda was found at his side and probably had to wait a few days there before help arrived. It must have been a traumatic experience for the poor dog, and she was upset for quite some time.
When she was put up for adoption by the pound, people didn't like her looks, because Hilda comes along wag-less! Due to a genetic disorder she doesn't have a tail.
My better half had spotted Hilda on the shelter's homepage, we looked at her and we thought: No tail? No problem! So we started dog-walking her for a while, and Hilda seems to enjoy our company.
Meanwhile we have been approved as adoptive parents for the four-legged tail-less lady, and hope to be able to provide her a forever-home.
Wow, was für tolle Nachrichten! Das mag ich euch und dem Hund gönnen, er wird es sicher gut haben bei euch. Da warte ich mal gespannt, weitere Geschichten werden wohl bald zu sehen sein.

Bald wird es wohl auch ein paar erste Hundewanderungen geben... Alles kam ein wenig überraschend für uns, aber wir haben ein gutes Gefühl, und Hilda schien sich beim Probewohnen letzte Woche bei uns recht wohl zu fühlen. Die agile Seniorin wird uns sicherlich auf Trab halten, und wir freuen uns, wenn wir ihr noch ein paar gute Jahre schenken können. Hund geben ja auch so viel zurück. LG SonjaM

ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind words, Geoff. Owning a dog was a long time in the making but how we got Hilda wasn't at all planned. We were touched by her story and bonded quite quickly with her, so it was only natural to want to take her home. Hilda will for sure need to adapt to our working schedule, but we will make good on her in our free time and look forward to long(er) walk or even hikes. Cheers, SonjaM

Deleteoh wie suess!!! Ich wuensche Euch eine wunderbare Zeit zusammen. Eure Hilda hat keinen Schwanz, unser Pirate nur ein Auge. Ich hoffe, sie kommt dank Euch ueber den Verlust ihres ersten Menschen hinweg, aber ich bin mir sicher Ihr werdet viele Abenteuer zusammen erleben.
ReplyDeleteHilda hält uns mächtig auf Trab und hat ein paar Eigenschaften, die wir ihr mit Hilfe eines Hundetrainers abgewöhnen möchten. Sie kann schlecht allein sein (musste es wohl vorher nie) und ist sehr futterneidig und knurrt dann. Aber sie beherrscht auch einige Kommandos. Es wir für uns alle ein großer Lernprozess werden.
