No big deal thanks to Siggi, our VW van, and so we left Switzerland, meandered through Austria and came back to Bavaria, Germany through the back door.
Das geht ja dank Siggi, unserem VW Bulli auch ganz hervorragend, und so ließen wir nach dem Blogger-Treffen die Schweiz hinter uns, dümpelten durch Österreich und kamen schließlich durch die Hintertür in Bayern an.
Hubby had made reservations at a campground with spa at Hopfensee, a lake in the Allgäu region. While he was into spa and wellness, I myself was more interested riding public transport for free, which was included in the two-day-stay.
Am Hopfensee im Allgäu hatten wir auf Wunsch des Gatten einen Campingplatz mit Wellnessanlage gebucht. Ich war ja mehr am angebotenen Gratis-Transport interessiert, denn die Benutzung der Öffis sind im Preis drin, wenn man mindestens zwei Tage bleibt.

Despite the time of the year the campground was packed with big white campervans. Not quite our crowds but it was ok for two days.
Trotz der Jahreszeit war der Platz noch gut besucht, zu viel "weiße Ware" für unseren Geschmack, aber gut, für zwei Tage würde das schon gehen.
We took a walk along the lake and found a fairly decent Italian restaurant called Riviera in the nearby village Hopfen.
Wir gingen noch ein wenig am See spazieren und verbrachten den Abend beim örtlichen Italiener in Hopfen, im Riviera, wo wir verzüglich speisten.
Next day we visited the medieval city of Füssen at river Lech. Last time driving through we came to like the town, and promised to be back soon. The bus stopped directly at the campground and took us into the city center / railway station.
Für den nächsten Tag stand die Besichtigung der Stadt Füssen am Lech auf dem Programm. Bei unserem letzten Besuch im Allgäu hatte uns die Stadt spontan gefallen. Mit dem Bus ging es also vom Campingplatz zur Endstation am Bahnhof und von dort zu Fuß in die Innenstadt.

The medieval core, the monastery and the high castle are in excellent condition and well restored. Of course the Romans had claimed the spot long before because it served as a road stop at the Via Claudia Augusta, one of the most important highways of the Roman Empire connecting Northern Italy and Southern Germany.
Der mittelalterliche Stadtkern, sowie die Klosteranlagen und Höhenschloss sind gut erhalten, der Ort selbst wurde bereits von den Römern besiedelt, denn hier führte die Via Claudia Augusta durch, eine der wichtigsten Straßen des römischen Reichs, welche Norditalien mit Süddeutschland verband.

Our walk along river Lech reminded us somehow of Banff, likely due to the surrounding mountains and the turquise colour of the water. We visited the river falls (which turned out to be kind of a dam). The high castle impressed us with its illusionist oriels and the lovely medieval old city core with its architecture. Of course we had to make a stop at the Füssen coffee roasting facility.
Wir schlenderten am Lech entlang und fühlten uns irgendwie an Banff erinnert, das mag an der Farbe des Flusses und den umgebenden Bergen gelegen haben. Die Hohe Burg beeindruckte mit seinen gut erhaltenen illusionistischen Erker-Fassaden und durch die hübsche Altstadt durch ihre gut erhaltenen Gebäude, hier musste unbedingt ein Stopp bei der Füssener Kaffeerösterei eingelegt werden.
The weather was in constant improvement mode so we opted to hike back to our campground. The evening was spent in the spa area with sauna and swimmingpool.
Das Wetter spielte weiter mit, und so wanderten wir zurück zum Campingplatz. Den Abend verbrachten wir dann wellnessend im platzeigenen Schwimmbad und in der Sauna.
Next day we had to break camp (too soon) and took the long way back through Austria and Switzerland. We crossed the border back to Germany at Konstanz and were back home late afternoon.
Am nächsten Tag mussten wir leider schon wieder zusammengepacken und fuhren über das Lechtal durch Österreich wieder zurück in die Schweiz und dann über Konstanz nach Hause.
