@Richard: I will have to go back on Hwy 1 eventually, since there is no alternative... Not sure about the island in the winter, it will be my first winter at the we(s)t coast, if so, I will certainly consider postponing it maybe into November.
Of course that last two days we had awesome motorcycle weather! And I am confined to my sofa. ARGH!
It seems that summer has returned for a few days. It is nearly too warm with my liner in but it is noticeably cooler in the morning with fog.
I remember going to Tofino during November and we encountered torrential rains for days. I think you would be Okay for Vancouver Island if you stuck to the main roads.
Looks like a nice trip. Fall is a time to regret missed opportunities, I was just going on about that on my own blog. (What pathetic self-referencing) Anyway, you've got something to look forward to.
How're you feeling? Getting more flexibility? I love your routes and really wish that you hadn't been waylaid. All the more sweet when you can see it in the coming spring...lame, I know...but at least something to daydream about. Have Mr. 2wheeler take you to the <a href="http://www.wickinn.com/>Wickaninnish Inn</a> as a recouperative trip of consolation. (If you do, please please please take pictures!!! I've been wanting to go there for 13 years!!) -Lori
@Bob: I have been there in November and got lucky, I will see when I get there. Motorcycle repair first... @Dom: No sidecar for me (yet), simply not in the budget but also way different to handle. Feeling a wee bit better already. @Lori: Now you have planted an idea in my head. It is a lovely location and a very fancy hotel. Should you ever get there let me know, and Mr M and I will be glad to meet you guys there.
@Brady: Thanks for stopping by. I have always regrets of not having taken every opportunity to go out and ride, sometimes life or work just gets in the way of things.
Sonja, how do you get those route pictures (are they print screens/paste?)- I have been unable to post the concluding episode of my Greek trip!I liked the comment about "Fall and lost opportunities"- I could say the same about my Summer in wet England, haha. You need to spend a good few hours pounding Hwy 1 to fend off the evil spirits...N
@Nikos: You are right the route pics are screen shots taken with the shift-command-4 keyboard stroke on my Mac. With this function you can then drag a window over the part that you want to take a picture of. Neat stuff.
Two of those routes have sections on Hwy 1. Need to re-route ;-}
ReplyDeleteIs Vancouver Island no do-able in the winter? I've never been in the area that time of year...
