Curiosities, a Hollywood icon and the Invisible man

Pretty much the whole afternoon we got rained on. It started with sprinkles and ended in torrential rainfalls. In order to be able to continue enjoying our sojourn we first stopped to refill our empty bellies. It involved vege sushi and chicken curry (sorry forgot the food porn).

Then we continued on to Covent Garden Market, where we found entertainment as well as a cafe for soy chocolate drink & coffee, accompanied by a rich piece of Belgian chocolate tea cake (actually there was no Belgian in it).

An excellent string quintette

As there wasn't any weather improvement in sight we visited the National Portrait Gallery, which had a photographic Audrey Hepburn exhibition, alas no picture taking was allowed. We are both big fans of the late actress. This kind is just not made anymore...

That was a bit of a weird encounter... How does he shave?

OMG!

From Trafalgar Square we could spot Big Ben but we were getting cold from the rain, and felt tired from the early morning call, so we skipped the obligatory visit this time.

London temperatures were around 20°C, while we had been fighting 35°C in southern Germany. That drop came somewhat unexpected for us. We sought shelter in the dungeons that are the Underground transportation system, where it was warm and dry.It was getting late anyway, we had spent more than two hours looking at and trying to understand portraits, and even more time with walking around.

By the end of the day we were in need of something more mundane... and ended the day with Thai food. London is a culinary gem. It seems like any cafe, restaurant or even fast food holes-in-the-wall, have excellent menus, and bonus: even vegan or gluten free and lactose free diet isn't an issue. Life is good!

    1. Hmmm, what would you think being sent into a battle without knowing of the outcome... I can relate to their fear.

  2. It looks like a fine time even with the rain. Actually the rain sounds glorious to us right now. Being cold doesn't sound good, but a good drenching of rain does.

Now the food, that sounds delicious.
