Just another rainy day

I did nothing but a tour of duty through the village on Saturday. The weather turned as bad as it could get, and hence all previously planned outdoor activities for the day got suspended. Sunday my guilty conscience got the better of me, however it was still raining in the morning. By early afternoon it had dried up a little, and we saddled our pedal powered steeds for a quick round trip through the valley.

I love riding close to water, so we followed the Kinzig river. In the early days the river had wreaked havoc on the valley almost every spring. Then it got controlled by dams, and now flooding only happens in the meadows, as it is supposed to be. However, the river regulation is quite dangerous for boaters, because the flow rate is high, and weirs or obstacles are currently hidden by high water.

It was indeed a small roundtrip of thirty kilometer, because the next downpour was bound to happen. We arrived just in time before the clouds opened up again. Better a small trip than nothing, we thought, and opened up two bottles of beer to celebrate our little outing. Cheers!

  1. Nice one getting a ride in between rain storms. The cloudy skies just add to the beauty of the scenery. I'm glad you beat the rain. :) Always nice to sit through the rain storm enjoying a good beer.

  3. All those dramatic skies make for beautiful pictures.

I wish I could share some of our sunshine with you. Sunday/Monday we saw a balmy 83˚F (28.3˚C) Unseasonably warm for us.
