Guys, this is to say I am not happy with the new Blogger update, the old version worked perfectly fine for me. But nowadays blogging with pics uploaded from computer has become very cumbersome, plus the once working formating is no longer applied. Long story short: I don't necessarily want to put more effort and energy in the lastest Blogger version. If need be I'd rather look into other blog software such as Wordpress.
One tool / app I have been testing so far is the micro-blog format findpenguins. Easy to use on the iphone, it tracks your travel route and time, and weather to date. For now I keep it simple and in German, however, if some of you are interested and sign up to follow me there I will start writing in English, too. Just let me know what you think down in the comment section.
Hallo Leute, ich muss es jetzt mal rauslassen. Ich bin mit dem neuen Blogger Update gar nicht zufrieden. Mit der alten Version kam ich prima zurecht, aber jetzt wird einem das Hochladen/Sortieren der Bilder vom Desktop aus ziemlich schwierig gemacht. Auch das ehemals eingestellte Format scheint nicht mehr zu funktionieren. Lange Rede, kurzer Sinn: Ich habe keinen Bock darauf, viel Energie und Mühe in diese Blogger Version zu stecken. Wenn ich mich schon mit dem Thema beschäftigen muss, dann kann ich auch gleich mal nach einer anderen Blog Software wie Wordpress schauen.
Im Moment experimentiere ich mit dem mini-blog Format findpenguins. Es ist leicht per iphone zu bedienen, verfolgt die Stationen der Reise und die Reisedauer, und gibt sogar das Wetter zu der Zeit an. Derzeit schreibe nur auf Deutsch, aber wenn Ihr Lust habt und Euch dort anmelden wollt, schaut doch mal da hinein und lasst mich in den Kommentaren wissen, was Ihr davon haltet.

DeleteI admit to having been too lazy for this for now, but when Blogger continues to annoy me I will further look into it.
I agree completely that the new Blogger software is horrible. I left a message months ago with the problems and suggested that whomever is designing the user interface shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near end user software.
ReplyDeleteThe old version worked fine. The one thing I miss with Wordpress is commenter authentication with something besides Wordpress… The IOS app is decent.

DeleteWordpress is a bit exclusive when it comes to the commenting function. I have created an account just to be able to comment on Wordpress user blogs.
Da scheine ich einer von wenigen zu sein, der mit dem neuen Blogger zufrieden ist. Ob das an meiner Bedienung liegt oder an meiner verwendeten Software, ich weiss es nicht. Ich verwende Linux OpenSuse mit KDE, Browser ist Chromium. Aber das nützt dir nichts, es muss für dich stimmen.

ReplyDeleteI don't think that the Blogger updates represent an improvement either. Do you use a laptop, tablet or what to produce your blogs? I use my old desktop PC and it's really no big deal for me using that. If I had to switch to some other platform, I might just stop altogether.

I agree, the new Blogger interface is terrible. Why do these tech people keep changing things that work, only to make them harder to use, then try to palm them off as an improvement? Not happy Jan!

ReplyDeleteI’ve been disappointed with blogger as well, and worry that google is going to abandoned it altogether, like they did with picasa and other apps.
I have been thinking of switching to Wordpress. I’ve had an account there for years, mostly idle. I’ve done some posts just to get a feel for it. I do a lot of my posts on my phone and Wordpress has an app, but neither platform is great on the phone.
Been awhile since I used the laptop but I recall it wasn’t as good as it used to be. Now I need to go see how bad it is. 🤨
If you change platforms let me know I’ll follow you there. 🙂

DeletePicasa. Since the new update of my laptop it's no longer working. It was my favourite tool and so easy, even my Mom could easily use it.
I also have an idle Wordpress account in order to be able to comment on Wordpress User blogs, I don't like that they force you to create an account. I think for now I will keep this blog working for you guys out there and while on the road use findpenguins as a more current diary because the app is easy to use on a smartphone. Thanks for your feedback my dear.
Ich bin auch nicht sooo begeistert vom update aber ich bin auch weniger im blogger unterwegs. Teilweise aus Zeitmangel aber auch weil ich nun auf Insta etwas poste. Bin ja schon im fortgeschrittenen Alter und eben kein Influencer :)
