We passed Château-Chinon, a small town nestled in the heart of the Morvan Regional Natural Park. Known for its scenic hilltop setting and historical charm, it gained national prominence as the political stronghold of François Mitterrand, who served there as mayor for over two decades before becoming President of France. However, we were more interested in a vibrant kinetic fountain situated in front of the town hall. This unique artwork is a collaboration between renowned artists Niki de Saint Phalle and Jean Tinguely. As one of only five such fountains worldwide, one of just two in France, alongside the famous Stravinsky Fountain near Paris's Centre Pompidou, it holds a special place in contemporary art.
Our next stop-over turned out to be a former Roman settlement. Autun is a historic town in the Saône-et-Loire department. Founded by the Romans as Augustodunum, it served as a major center of Roman Gaul and still boasts impressive ancient remains, including a well-preserved amphitheatre, impressive city gates, and temple ruins. The town is also known for the majestic Cathedral of Saint-Lazare, a masterpiece of Romanesque architecture. The walkable tour included an awesome Pizza with regional toppings (and a hamburger for Hilda).

Meistens ist sie tatsächlich zufrieden. Besonders, wenn Spazierengehen und Schnüffeln auf dem Programm steht. Außerdem weiß sie, dass für sie auch immer etwas Leckeres drin ist, wenn wir die lokale Kulinarik ausprobieren. Es ist einfach eine Freude, mit dem Hund unterwegs zu sein, auch wenn es mit ihr langsamer voran geht, als wenn ich allein im Wandermodus bin... ;-) LG SonjaM
