This quarter had been assigned to the Jews in medieval times but after their expulsion at the end of the 15th century it went downhill until its conversion and renewal in the 18th century. Today it appears to be a more quiet neighbourhood with a maze of cobblestone alleys and beautifully colourful buildings.
We continue our stroll via Sevilla university towards Plaza de España, an architectural landmark once built for the 1929 world exhibition and combining various building styles of this region with elements from the Renaissance, Baroque and Moorish.
What a beautiful area! This Fall, we will be seeing just a small sampling of Spain. I think just a day or two in Barcelona. We will be in Italy before and after a cruise to ports in Italy and Greece. Our first European trip.
ReplyDeleteGood for you guys, I hope you‘ll enjoy your trip. Looking forward to reading your posts! Cheers, SonjaM
DeleteGreat pictures as always, SonjaM....I'm liking the technique of just shooting portions of a building, must try that.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dom, shooting building parts became a necessity in order to avoid having people in your picture. Some humans are very particular about being photographed. Cheers, SonjaM

LG SonjaM
DeleteThis is my favourite post of your wonderful tour! The Moorish architecture is simply breathtaking and you sure know how to capture it. I completely agree with Redleg. Keep up the awesome work - thoroughly enjoying it.
ReplyDeleteThank you Geoff, we were also impressed and intrigued by the Moorish building style, and the way it beautifully compliments other regional architectural styles. Cheers, SonjaM
