Whingeing on the highest possible Level (It's a German thing!)

Cycle path? What's that? I am going cross-country on my Townie.

During my daily exercise (Townie time, again) I was pondering about an admittedly pretty luxurious problem: Too many vacation days and not enough ideas how, when and where to spend them. In Canada it was easy: You got four weeks, thereof two were spent on family visits in Germany, leaving another two weeks for a two or four wheeled road trip (often to the States).

But this year we already went on our road trip, and also took off a few days here and there. Also, I have tentative plans of traveling to the Baltic Sea in autumn, yet I have another 12 days to squander, and that's not counting the countless statutory holidays. Suggestions, anyone...?

Bottom line: Life must be darn good, when struggling with problems like this.

At least it was dry today.
The effing hill almost had me finished off! The incline doesn't look that steep, however, I was puffed and done. Hated it.
Got rewarded with a downhill blast
(trusting the breaks were functioning properly)
Got a scenic view overlooking the village, too.

Happy Birthday, Canada!

Wishing all Canadians a happy Canada Day!

Knocking-off Time

Feierabend! A typical German word. There is no English translation for it. Literally: To celebrate the evening. It's a thing that any employee is looking forward to with great anticipation, and one actually has to work to earn Feierabend. Hence, students or bums can't have it. Nope!

What is wrong with that picture?

As part of our weight loss (better: weight control) program we try to cycle or walk almost every evening but during the Football World Cup the schedule went a little sideways for the man.

However, knowing that the match would not start before 10PM, there was enough time to be had, and no lame excuse at hand, so we got our pedal steeds out of the shed. Of course it started raining two minutes from home, but that's what rain gear is for. Then all of a sudden Mother Nature switched back to sun and rewarded us with a rainbow.

After the ride we treated ourselves to a serving of Italian ice-cream, and were back on the couch and in front of the telly just in time for kick-off.

Stuff is growing like crazy, the grass will have doubled size by end of season.
On the left side sitting on the table: our reward.

Feierabend
