A Vacay at Côte d'Azur

Due to lots of two-wheeled content most of our road trip will be logged in Sonja's blog, however we had times of sight-seeing that will fit well into our Europe-blog, too.

We stayed at a very nice hotel in St. Maxime, there was a a huge freshwater pool, a (for French standards) remarkably great breakfast (yay, soy milk!), and an extraordinary overall service.

How cold is the water?

After the Harley Davidson Festival it got very quiet at the venue, only one other German rider stayed behind, everybody else seemed to have fled the scene right after the party was over.

The village of St. Maxime is the less expensive and less touristy counterpart of St. Tropez. Pricing is reasonable and the food is great, too.

Opposite the harbour and the pier is the old town with restaurants and bars, specialty shops and cafes, all catering to the culinary desires of the tourists.

Orangina, Café au lait et Cidre, s'il vous plait!
Go Kiwis!

Thanks to the wonderful app Trip Advisor our taste buds were satisfied to the max in the restaurant L'Ormeau.

After an excellent three (or was it four) course menu we strolled along the promenade and the pier, watching the sun go down.

When life's good, life's good.
The Magers: reunited in St. Maxime.

    1. Hey, there was an Asian place if Mediterranean cuisine is not for you ;-)

  2. St Maxine looks like my kind of tourist town, not the surely crowded and expensive St Tropez! I like the photo of the sailboats, their masts all lined up.

    1. It was shockingly expensive in St. Tropez but I am witness to the fact that the surrounding areas are adjusted to deal with the normal tourist's pocket money.

  3. Such beautiful pictures. The town looks like a great place to stay a few days and unwind.

    1. Brandy, that's why we decided to stay a few days longer, and it was less activity after the rally was over. Still early in the season...

  4. Hard to imagine reasonable prices in the Riviera, but there again my experiences have all been in summer and this not worth the effort. I must try lower than high season apparently. Looks nice.

    1. Well, Michael if you were to travel East to Cannes, Nice and Monaco you'd have your high prices but St. Maxime is a real gem, and fairly normal given that it is surrounded by posh places left and right.
