Changing the point of view

This time we conquered another hill (Hangererstein), in order to get a different perspective on our little village. Legend has it that many centuries ago a woman was banned to live under this very rock as punishment, because she didn't want to have children, and had subsequently killed off all her offspring. Also, if you get lost in these woods, it is not due to your bad sense of orientation, no! It will have likely been her cursed soul leading you into the wrong direction. Of course we never lost our way... we merely decided to take a detour home. Fairy tales. Bah! Humbug!

  3. Gorgeous photos Sonja! I'm happy to travel to snow but I don't like it to come to me! What's the latest time of the year in your region that snow can occur?

    1. Geoff, usually our valley doesn't get much snow at all, and it's s usually gone within a couple of days, the surrounding mountains however, usually stay white-capped until Easter. Temperatures aren't too bad though, and stay mostly in the single negative digits.

  4. Beautiful photos even though they feature that white stuff that some people seem to dislike. Especially like the contrast with the red berries.

    1. Richard, if it is not too cold, and the snow is powdery like it is right now, winter scenery can be awesome.

I am not a botanist but the the little I know is that the beautiful berries are from a holly tree, and highly toxic.

    1. Michael, the Black Forest is quite popular for fairy tales, and each valley and village has a few locale ones in store...

    1. Thanks, David. Be assured that blue sky would make the view even more spectacular. I'll make sure to revisit the view point during another season.

    1. It's quite nice indeed, and not as bad as winter usually gets. Having said that I wouldn't mind it getting warmer now, in order for me to be able to do some stuff on two wheels.
