Warm Thoughts

And here I was thinking, Calgary weather sucks. This week I had to help out on a project in Edmonton, where it had daytime temperatures between -20C and -35C (-4F to -31F) . I even took a cab for a 1.7 km drive. Now you have it, I am a wimp (female: wimpess?).

There is a German saying, which translates somewhat to: If you are cold, think warm thoughts. Dreaming of a desert ride right now...

    Well Sonja, I rode today and my hands were cold. However, out temps in Seattle are a far cry from yours in the north country! A balmy 30º F when I set out ... and beautiful cold sunshine. The light does at least lift one's spirits if not the temperature.

    Being in the Key West of Canada, we managed to go for a ride last week. Temps were below freezing in the AM, but by noon it was a blistering 4C. I had so many layers on it was hard to move, but it was a very pleasant day. At least you can still dream of warmer days

    OH NO !! If you come out here you will go broke. Firstly, you will have to pay more insurance for your bike(s) as you will be able to ride nearly all year. You will need a whole new wardrobe: shorts, T-shirts, sandals, running shoes. Your gas expense will go up riding around the country, just to mention a few.

    In a short 3-1/2 weeks from today, we will be in Hawaii on Kona and taking pictures of the Volcano, and admiring the sea from our oceanview condo.
