No news is good news

Ya think? Yeah, I didn't think so either.
So I phoned up the shop today to ask for an update on Nella. Guess what, there are still parts one to four weeks away from being delivered. I wonder what special snail mail service they might be using. The longest lead-time items seem to be the fork tubes, which have to be brought in from the manufacturer. I was not aware that they were damaged, but that certainly explains the high repair cost estimate. My insurance will probably skyrocket on next renewal, that is if they still accept to insure me, big risk that I am.
Meanwhile my fellow traveler takes me on less risky expeditions such as hiking in the woods and mountains to keep my sanity in check and maintain my Zen. The tree is obviously the result of my current state of mind...

  1. Violence to trees from such a committed environmentalist, tut tut. Moral of the story is don't mess with Sonja when she's riled ;-). did the tree shake its leaves at you?

May your Zen maintain equilibrium for a week or two more. Understand your frustrations....

  2. Sonja, sorry about the continued delay....in an effort though to save further trees, you sure your husband won't reconsider his position on a "spare motorcycle"? : )

  3. Hi Sonja, nothing as frustrating as not having a bike, this in itself is a pretty good argument to get a "spare" after all we need to watch out for the trees.! Seriously you have to wonder, I can buy something in Uk and have it here 7 days later, thats 12000 miles, bike shops and dealers are a completly different story!

  4. If you go down in the woods today
You're sure of a big surprise
If you go down to the woods today
    You'd better go in disguise

For I know Sonja is hanging in that hood
and I hear she is not happy
    And indeed her mood
    Can get a little snappy

    Her poor beloved Nella
    Is nowhere near being better
So the dealer had better watch out
‘Cause Sonja will give him a clout

Although she is still wounded in the knee
Just look at what she did to that poor tree!
So Mr Dealer you’d better get that chrome
Because Sonja is tired of sitting at home!

  6. @ Geoff: I am an environmentalist who rides motorized two-wheeled vehicles for recreational purpose. What does that make me...
@ Charlie6: Dom, since that thing with the tree happened my husband is much more open to a 'spare' bike. Not sure what changed is mind...
@ Raftnn: Roger, I know what you mean, I am a purchaser and can get parts from the other side of the world within 24 hours, so you may imagine how mad it makes me to hear about those lead-times.
@ Gary: You are quite the wordsmith! Oh my, that's hilarious! It just made my day. Thank you so much!
@ George: Darn, maybe that's the way to speed up mail these days...

    @Gary - lol! Good one. :)

  8. Dear Sonja:

There is something utterly bogus about this. I'm wondering if your "dealer" hasn't got himself in trouble on payment for previous parts deliveries and is now on a COD basis, or worse, "cash up front."

The reason why I think this is that lots of my friends own BMW GS1200 machines, and they gave no trouble getting parts for these when they go down or suffer mishaps. This is because the GS machines are the best-selling BMWs of all times. A buddy of mine blew up a wiring harness in Canada, and got that replaced (under warranty) in less than a week. Another friend of mine did the near impossible, and slammed a rear-end. He got that replaced in two days: in Tennessee.

Fork tubes get bent in crashes all the time. I bet you could get a set of these online from the United States in 15 minutes. It's time to switch dealers. Call Beemer Boneyard in the US and see what they've got. Then find another dealer.

    Fondest regards,

  9. @Jack: You are totally right. But switching dealers is next to impossible since the Lower Mainland only has two Beemer dealers, and qualitywise it is pretty much chosing between a rock and a hard place, they both suck.

They are however the only shops that the insurance agency is willing to deal with, that's why I am stuck.

Being a purchaser and having to bring in parts from places as far away as China or Europe, I have a very hard time understanding what is taking so long, believe me, because I can get it fedexed within 24 hours.

I am considerable miffed by now.
