Here comes the Rain again

After a fantastic breakfast buffet we checked the weather forecast and found it not very promising. But we hit the road anyway, knowing we could turn around to our cosy room at the hotel any time.

We followed the road along the lakeshore towards Interlaken before turning into the mountains in direction of Lungern. Traffic was slow at times and therefore fun limited as the cagers couldn't seem to get into second gear and speed up a little. Well, it was Sunday, and the motorists must have been on their way to some blue hair gathering.

Finally traffic became lighter as we turned left to climb the Glaubenbieden Pass (1611m) in the Emmental Alps (Know your Cheese?). In the meantime light rain had started and we could no longer ride without the respective gear. It was just in time because it began pouring as if Noah's Arc was waiting for leave.

The clouds were stuck in the mountains, and with no weather improvement in sight we opted for the shortest route back to the hotel to wait out the bad weather. Around 6 PM the clouds parted and blue skies reigned again. We rode the bus to Thun again and had Eastern Indian food for dinner at Maha Lakshmi. Alas, the butter chicken (Roland) and potato spinach curry was merely average and nothing to write home about. But maybe we were too spoiled by the great choices of restaurants in and around Vancouver.

However, as if to tease us, the evening showed off with a brilliant sunset. Again we walked along the lake promenade to enjoy the fresh air and to take the opportunity to catch the beautiful light.

Wieder mal regnet es.

Nach einem großartigen Frühstücksbuffet ging es um 10 Uhr los, obwohl der Wetterbericht nichts Gutes verhieß. Wir fuhren am Thuner See entlang nach Interlaken und nahmen dann die Abzweigung nach Lungern. Leider nahmen uns die Sonntagsfahrer ein wenig den Fahrspaß und der einsetzende Regen begeisterte uns auch nicht gerade. Schließlich wurden aus den Tropfen sintflutartige Regenfälle so dass wir nicht mehr ohne unsere Regenpelle weiter fahren konnten. Der Verkehr lichtete sich zwar, als wir zum Glaubenbielen Pass (1611m) abbogen, aber bei dem Wetter hatten wir leider nicht so viel davon. So kürzten wir die Strecke ab und waren nach 150km wieder am Hotel. Dort warteten wir gemütlich auf eine Wetterbesserung, und als wenn nichts gewesen wäre, kam ab 18 Uhr die Sonne heraus und bescherte uns einen wundervollen Sonnenuntergang. Unser Abendessen nahmen wir im Indischen Restaurant Maha Lakshmi ein, was ok war, aber auch nicht mehr. Vielleicht waren wir einfach zu verwöhnt von den tollen Indern rund um Vancouver... Jedenfalls machten wir noch den üblichen Abendspaziergang am See und genossen die frische Luft und das Panorama.
