One of the good things of living in the Black Forest is that you can start your hikes right from your door!
With the help of the very nice komoot-App I planned a little trip around our village and started climbing the hill on the other side of the town.
I was rewarded with a nice view over the next valley which actually is included in Sonja's daily commute to work.
But I had to continue my way up the hill. My journey was made easier by some good progressive rock on my iPhone which also gave me directions via the App. Isn't technology a wonderful thing?
Another view over the valley. In the far distance I could actually see the river Rhine and France!
The reason why the Black Forest got it's name!
Finally it's going downhill again!
Back in the valley...
Still going strong :-)
THIS is finally OUR valley with a view on our village.
Back in our village. For some reason this Mary-statue has a mysterious magic.
Another nice function of the App is that it records your hike. If your iPhones battery has enough power, of course. Pretty proud to have done almost 13km, I am now resting lazy on the sofa!

Beautiful panos Roland! Almost makes me want to take up hiking.....almost.
ReplyDeleteWhat do I have to do to get you there? :-)
DeleteRoland, I believe the Army used up all my hiking potential while on active duty....
DeleteReminds me of my time in NE Wisconsin where I could walk out my door and hike, ski, bike, etc. Lots of trade offs...Such a beautiful area where you are.
ReplyDeleteNo problem to find outdoor activities here (maybe except for anything water-related)! But unfortunately the couch is always closer than any of these opportunities...
DeleteThat is quite the hike, but such beautiful views. You sure chose a nice area to live.
ReplyDeleteBrandy, it's not too bad, however no big water nearby only a small river.
Deletethe views down to your village are quite beautiful, not too bad the area you live in.
ReplyDeletebtw, seems like we are moving next summer into the lower 48 :-). so we have to do as much traveling as possible around here in BC within the next 12 month.
