Everyday Cycling: Flower-Picking Style

It's the little things that count: We went on a late afternoon bicycle ride, enjoying temperatures in the high teens for a change. (Now while I write this temps are back to 5°C, not what I would call spring). We were not in a hurry. It's amazing to discover new things in familiar places. Here's a tiny chapel and some daffodils.

Sind es nicht die kleinen Dinge die zählen? Auf einem Nachmittagsritt konnten wir zur Abwechslung mal Temperaturen um 16°C genießen (jetzt, da ich diese Zeilen schreibe, sind wir wieder bei ar...kalten 5°C, und so was nennt sich dann Frühling.) Wir hatten keine Eile, hier eine Kapelle, dort einige Osterglocken...

In der Kategorie 'seltsame Dinge am Straßenrand': Eine Pappmaché Kuh in SchwarzRotGold mit der Forderung unserer lokalen Bauern nach fairen Preisen für Milch.

A creek flows through a tiny village. Its noise was soothing, and nearby a beer garden.

Ein Bach fließt durch das nächste kleine Dorf (Städle). Wir fanden das Geplätscher beruhigend und einladend, gut dass nebenan gleich der Biergarten lag.

There is always the right time for a break, we were thirsty anyway. Two black currant spritzers please!

Für eine Pause gibt es immer einen guten Grund. In diesem Falle waren wir ziemlich durstig, da wir unsere Getränkeflaschen zuhause auf dem Küchentisch vergessen hatten. Also: Zwei Johannisbeerschorlen bitte!

Seems to look like beer, but no, it's strictly non alcoholic. Cheers!

Es sieht zwar aus wie Bier, ist aber keins. Echt Ehrlich. Prost!

Centered in this little village we spotted an open air museum with an old mill, a farm house and a barn. We learned that the buildings are from the 18th century. They were well preserved and the equipment is still in excellent working condition.

Mitten im Dorf gibt es ein Freilichtmuseum mit einer alten Mühle, einem Bauernhaus und einem Speicher aus dem 18. Jahrhundert. Die Gebäude sind in einem großartigen Zustand und das Equipment funktioniert sogar noch.

Our trip continued. Can you spot Bambi in the left pic? It is a tamed deer, once injured during harvest season, and nursed back to health, it now lives close to the farm, and frequently stops by for a visit.

Dann radelten wir weiter. Seht Ihr Bambi im linken Bild? Es handelt sich hier um ein gezähmtes Reh, welches mal von einem Traktor beim Mähen erfasst wurde. Die Bauern päppelten das Tier wieder auf und nun lebt es in der Nähe und kommt immer mal wieder vorbei.

The next stretch of trail was a bit challenging, to the left the abyss, to the right a straight wall up, and a footpath less than half a meter to ride along. Since I have no head for heights, I needed to push the bike. After this it was a relaxing trip back over forest tracks and hiking trails. Life is good!

Der nächste Abschnitt war anspruchsvoll, links der Abgrund, rechts eine Wand und ein schmaler Fußweg. Das war nichts für mich, da ich ein leichtes Problem mit Höhen habe, also bin ich für das kurze Stück abgestiegen. Danach ging es entspannt weiter über Wald- und Wanderwege. Ist das Leben nicht schön?
