I am sitting on the patio, it is sunny but a bit nippy with a strong easterly wind blowing, hence no more than 10°C (50F). I am cuddled in a blanket, actually in a sleeping quilt, the one I had wanted to bring along on the Caminho Portugues, and for now I put it to good use at home.
The sky is incredibly blue. Did you notice that heaven is void of air traffic and condensation trails (a.k.a. "chemtrails" in certain conspirancy circles)? No traffic noise echoing through the streets. No sounds from kids playing on the playground. The world is on mute. With every breeze rustling in the trees you can hear the Earth taking a deep breath.
Ich sitze auf dem Balkon, die Sonne scheint, aber es ist durch den Ostwind mit 10°C doch recht kühl. Ich bin in eine Decke gekuschelt, eigentlich handelt es sich um den Schlafsack, den ich mit auf den Caminho Portugues nehmen wollte. Nun benutze ich ihn eben erst einmal hier.
Der Himmel ist von tiefem Blau. Ist Euch auch aufgefallen, dass keine Kondenzstreifen zu sehen sind (in Verschwörerkreisen auch als "Chemtrails" bekannt). Auch auf den Straßen bleibt es ruhig, kein Kindergeschrei tönt vom Spielplatz herüber. Die Welt hält den Atem an. Mit jeder Brise, die in den Bäumen rauscht, kann man die Erde tief durchatmen hören.
Corona status report - week two:
Health: We have been notified that friends of ours we met two weeks ago were together with Corona infected folks. We may be part of the chain now, and are waiting for symptoms to show up any day.
Mood: Frustrated (as in cursing my useless profession, instead of home office I'd rather do something more productive)
Physical Fitness: Some walks around the block and to the grocery store
Mental Fitness: Reading an English mystery novel
Toilet Paper index: 38 rolls - yay!
Corona Status Bericht - Woche zwei:
Gesundheit: Freunde berichteten, dass sie vor letzten Treffen mit uns Kontakt mit Corona-Positiven hatten. Wir sind jetzt wahrscheinlich ein Teil der Infektionskette, warten wir mal ab, ob und wann sich bei uns die ersten Symptome zeigen werden.
Stimmung: Frustriert (insofern ich mir wünschte, ich hätte etwas gelernt, dass sich in solchen Zeiten als nützlich erweisen würde, statt die Zeit im Home Office abzusitzen)
Körperliche Fitness: Kurze Spaziergänge, meist zum Supermarkt
Mentale Fitness: Ein englischsprachiges Buch lesen
Toilettenpapier Index: 38 Rollen - juhuuh!

The world on mute is a good way to put it. Things seem incredibly quiet. Probably 95% of the people around here are pretty much staying in their rigs and the most of the remaining are families with a lot of kids. The common areas and the playgrounds are all closed so I suspect that cabin fever is making it difficult to keep kids entertained.
ReplyDeleteI believe it will be hardest on larger families... keeping the kids busy, maybe having to work remotely. Cabin fever is bound to happen.
DeleteHeute auch hier blauer Himmel. Wie schön! Wir konnten sogar noch ATVs und Snowmobiles über den gefrorenen See flitzen sehen. Die haben Nerven!
ReplyDeleteNun haben wir fast Gleichstand mit dem WC-Papier - bei uns waren die Gestelle im Laden immer noch leer :-D (aber ich hätte sowieso keines gekauft). Ein Cannabis-Laden irgendwo in unserer Region fand eine Quelle für Toilettenpapier und hat es gratis zum Abholen ausgeschrieben! Es geschehen erstaunliche Dinge...
Du, bei uns gab es sogar Whatsapp Gruppen, die Klopapier-Sichtungen gemeldet haben ;-)
DeleteThe quiet is rather soothing, not that it's ever really noisy at our place. Enjoy the silence while you can! I have a long task list of domestic work and IAM admin ahead of me so that's fine. Had a phone call from our mutual friend Rogey. He wanted to speak to "his favourite old people". I should have hung up there and then :-) .

Deleteein schoener Himmel :-). Klopapier ist hier immer noch ueberall aus, jedenfalls wenn wir mal selten im Laden sind. Aber ich sehs auch in den facebook-Gruppen, wie immer gefragt/gepostet wird, wo es grad mal welches geben koennte ...
ReplyDeleteHoffe, der Kelch geht an Euch vorueber. Junior hat jedenfalls nix gezeigt, eine Mitschuelern war ja diagnostiziert (wurde aber nicht getetstet, wie soviele. Somit taucht man dann auch in keiner Statistik auf). Es sind jetzt mehr als 14 Tage um und gsd nix. Er war auch die ganze Zeit ueber zu Hause. In Colorad ist ja nun seit dem 26. Ausgangssperre bis erstmal glaub 11.4., Schulen bis inkl. 17.4. geschlossen.
Das Tragische am Virus ist ja, dass die Kids es, ohne Symptome zu zeigen, haben und weiter geben können. Naja, ändern können wir nichts daran, wenn wir es bekommen, sind wir dann wenigstens danach hoffentlich immun...
Deleteja, deshalb haben wir ihn auch 14 Tage im haus eingesperrt (bzw er hat sich gefreut, nicht zum einkaufen mitzumuessen und soviel Zeit fuer den Computer zu haben *muhaha*).
DeleteNr 45 hat ja jetzt die Schliessung von allem bis 30.04. ausgeweitet, und der Colorado Governor geht auch nicht mehr davon aus, dass die Schulen dieses Schuljahr nochmal eroeffnen. Kind macht jetzt online learning (teilweise Arbeitsanweisungen und manche Faecher auch per zoom conference) und faengt nebenbei den online-Kurs mit Fuehrerschein-Therorie an. Er ist beschaeftigt. Und ich frische mein Spanisch wieder mit Mango auf.
I tend to camp in quiet spots to start with so that hasn't really changed for me....I imagine my family back in Centennial though would echo your remarks! I hope no issues arise for you guys re that exposure!
ReplyDeleteDom, we are lucky, it's just the two of us, we have done home office before, we live on the countryside and in a fairly quiet neighbourhood. But I feel sorry for families with kids crammed together in small city apartments with nowhere to go.
DeleteSo sorry to hear you may be in the chain of the virus now. Praying tests are negative and you can escape it. I would love to be like redlegs and be out camping away from civilization, but work keeps me close by.

DeleteInteresting comment about the lack of airplane noise and 'chemtrails'. As you know it's already pretty quiet here but now I'll notice it even more as we get outside to enjoy our spring (which is just really starting).

Thank you David. We live on the brim of a very small town. As a former city dweller I found it rather quiet already, but this is a different quality of silence.

DeleteHope you both are still well. Ron is still going to work. Fortunately his area is isolated from the main plant and there are only a few other guys there. We moved out in the country a couple years ago so isolating is pretty easy and not too different from the way things were before. I can run or ride, and while it’s not a trail it’s quiet and pretty.
