Moto Photo - #26 of 29

 #26: Scootin' Art

While I was walking to my favourite breakfast joint in my hometown I noticed two-wheelers parked all over the place, mostly in otherwise illegal spots, which seems to be widely tolerated.

With breakfast as priority in mind I saved the photo shooting for later, and lost of course a few opportunities of fine pictures, as the bikes and their owners had moved on.
Typical German breakfast with rolls and cold cuts.

However, here's some more German smalltown architecture mixed with moto content. (I know I am getting desperate for moto themed challenge fodder.)
Scooter parking is always a bit risky.
Usually riders watch out for places where cars can't go such as pedestian zones or between poles.
Bikes get squeezed in whereever they fit, and almost never get fined for illegal parking.
Walkways or backyards are also welcome resting places for migrating two-wheelers.

  1. Great shots. The architecture sure makes a pretty backdrop for the scooters.

I like the looks of the nice simple breakfast too, not heavy and covered in a bunch of sauces like you see so often here.

    1. The 'heaviness' lies in the buns and croissants with lots of butter and jam ;-)

  2. Have you noticed how many photos we take of motorcycles/scooters, even when we're not doing the motorcycle thing? Walking or cycling, and if you spot a moto, you have to snap a pic!

I wish we could park motorbikes as easily as bicycles. without the fines. I'm always afraid to park anywhere but in a parking spot, which aren't always bike friendly.

    1. I do it all the time. You never know if there might be challenge coming up ;-)
No fines in Germany for moto parking that I know of, something that I would love to see here more often as well.

  3. Still some cool pics there, it has been hard keeping up with blogs every day. I have enjoyed a lot of yours though. Hope the weather is getting warmer and you will soon be out tearing up the pavement again.

    1. Thanks, Roger for trying to follow. I know how hard it is to follow all those crazy bloggers.
I wouldn't mint tearing up the pavement soon, but for now frost in the morning is still present as well as the occasional snow fall.

  4. Sonja - your pictures are fabulous! European architecture and old world charm is so much more pretty than the run of the mill stuff in Canadian cities. You have a lot of moto photos!

    1. Thanks Dar, sometimes I miss the architecture but then again, you can't beat the design of the 'Canadian' architect, mother nature.

  5. I've really enjoyed your Germany pics. The "traditional" German breakfast is odd. Cold cuts? I noticed that on the breakfast buffets when we visited Austria. Now, having Nutella available on every breakfast bar, I can get used to!

    1. Standard (during the week) breakfast would usually be boring white rolls or toast with jam and Nutella, and maybe a hardboiled egg. The typical breakfast however includes slices of cheese, ham and salami.

  6. Like stray cats - all these 2-wheelers finding nooks to rest in :)
