We recently connected with a group of rogue Vespa riders (no club!). A previous gathering didn't happen due to bad weather. Now we wanted to give it another go. Via modern communication devices it was agreed to meet up Saturday at 10am at one of the rider's home, where we were served Italian coffee for starters. The weather wasn't really cooperating, so we chatted about two and four strokes, tuning, and piston seizure (something that seem to befall some of the older models), while waiting for the rain to stop. The rain didn't stop so it was decided to split, and meet another day. Another ride-out that didn't happen. However, since Roland and I were already in rain gear and eager to ride, we at least wanted to take the long way home.

Es sollte nicht sein
Wir hatten kürzlich mit dieser Vespa-Gruppe (kein Verein) Bekanntschaft gemacht. Ein vorheriges Treffen war schon mal wortwörtlich ins Wasser gefallen, aber wir machten einen neuen Versuch. Via neumodischer Kommunikationsmittel verabredeten wir uns für Samstag morgen um 10 Uhr bei einem der Rollerfahrer zu Hause. Dort wurden wir erst einmal mit italienischem Kaffee begrüßt. Leider wurde das Wetter immer schlechter, und so trennte man sich nach entsprechenden Benzingesprächen mit dem Schwur, erneut für einen gemeinsamen Ausflug zusammen zu kommen. Es wurde also wieder nichts mit der gemeinsamen Tour. Da Roland und ich nun aber schon mal in Regenkluft waren, haben wir die Touristenroute nach Hause genommen und sind so doch noch auf über 70km Strecke gekommen. Unterwegs haben wir dann noch diesen urigen Schwarzwald-Chopper entdeckt.
I bailed out of a meetup today but sadly no Italian coffee, just an oil change in the drizzle.

ReplyDeleteI also found it a very intriguing architecture. The shape is pretty common for a modern house, but the cover panels are something different.
DeleteGroup riding is overrated in my opinion, the group dynamics usually ensure no one has a good time in my opinion. You two are doing fine on your own! :)
ReplyDeleteDom, we are a small group of our own indeed. I do not fancy group riding because lack of discipline or experience can cause dangerous situations. Also, stopping to enjoy the surroundings or take a picture is not an option.

DeleteThe heating module is likely a wood pellet furnace, which has become quite popular lately with the rising energy cost.
Recht so, wofür hat man sich in die Klamotten gepellt!?
ReplyDeleteBis auf einen anderen Vespa-Reiter, waren wir die einzigen in wetterfester Motorradkleidung. Und genau, wenn man die Pelle schon angezogen hat, sollte man sie auch nutzen.
