Whingeing on the highest possible Level (It's a German thing!)

Cycle path? What's that? I am going cross-country on my Townie.

During my daily exercise (Townie time, again) I was pondering about an admittedly pretty luxurious problem: Too many vacation days and not enough ideas how, when and where to spend them. In Canada it was easy: You got four weeks, thereof two were spent on family visits in Germany, leaving another two weeks for a two or four wheeled road trip (often to the States).

But this year we already went on our road trip, and also took off a few days here and there. Also, I have tentative plans of traveling to the Baltic Sea in autumn, yet I have another 12 days to squander, and that's not counting the countless statutory holidays. Suggestions, anyone...?

Bottom line: Life must be darn good, when struggling with problems like this.

At least it was dry today.
The effing hill almost had me finished off! The incline doesn't look that steep, however, I was puffed and done. Hated it.
Got rewarded with a downhill blast
(trusting the breaks were functioning properly)
Got a scenic view overlooking the village, too.

  1. I would love to be riding there! I've ridden on roads and on scary, skinny trails, but i think my favorite is riding the gravel forest roads. The downside is they tend to be hilly! Beautiful ride - thanks for sharing it.

    1. Kari, once I was on the hill it was nice, a bit up and down and mostly with a nice view or shady forrest track. But it was a pain to get up there in the first place.

I think you have that right. A great problem to have. How about a scooter trip to Spain or even Morocco?

  3. Sonja, there are people here and in the States with a meagre two weeks.

    You are blessed indeed.

    1. David, I am fully aware of that. In my first job I also had a mere two weeks, however that was the first thing that got negotiated once I was in the position to do so ;-)

  4. I like RichardM's idea, a ride to Spain.....see the Rock of Gibraltar, visit Gary if he's there, then ferry across to Africa.....

    1. Dom, already fine tuning it, thanks. I wonder if Gary might be around some time...

    2. I think you will find he might be.... even if he isn't, you can use his house near Gibraltar. But, you will also find he is organising a Harley-Davidson tour in Spain..... June 2015 maybe....

    3. Ah, Gary. It is on the list for next year... now it's vacation time in France, Italy and Spain and all places will be packed along the route. June 2015? I might just make that!

  5. Ahhh first world problems. Good to have aren't they? Don't you get 6 weekend vacation? We get 2. Sigh, jealous!

Beautiful pics of the ride though.

    1. Brandy, for me it almost feels like I am hardly ever at work with all those vacation days and holidays ;-)

  6. I like your culture's attitude. Here in the USA there is too much focus on "work".

It's cool that you are exploring more and more on your bicycle...you and Bobskoot have got me pulling out my bike and lubing it up for riding again!

    Enjoy!

    1. Deb, there are a few important things I learned in while in Canada... one of them being losen focus on "work", have more fun instead.

Cycling in the heat is better than being in full gear on a motorbike, I came to like it.
