Saying it with Jack Kerouac:
"I preferred reading the (North) American landscape as we went along.
Every bump, rise, and stretch in it mystified my longing.”
And how are you coping?
Alberta Roads
BC Roads
Maritimes Roads
Alaska Roads
Western US Roads

Lovely set of pics and memories Sonja.....So that's what the Sea to Sky Highway looks like without snow on everything..... ;)
ReplyDeleteReally like how you captured that bridge/highway, first pic in Maritimes Highways....
Right, you got snowed on while riding it. Thanks, the bridge is a wonderful motive.
DeleteTry and get hold of Henry Cole's DVD series World's Greatest Motorcycle Rides
ReplyDeleteOn it, Nikos.
DeleteI think it's time for a road trip...
ReplyDeleteYou betcha, Richard. I am itching to get out but it's too cold right now, and tons of snow in the mountains.
DeleteThat's too much for me to look at...Plus, the person I sold my Metropolitan to never rides it, doesn't have a garage (only the cover I gave him) and I'm so upset now that I almost want to go get it back. But I won't. I have enough to deal with right now. But I do miss my scooter rides thru the WI countryside.
ReplyDeleteOh, Martha. That is heart breaking. One day you might want to have another scooter but this one you have to let go.
DeleteWow, just.........WOW. I'm speachless. Those photo's are just fantastic.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing them.
Glad you like what you see ;-) I am sure you'd enjoy those roads.
Delete“There was nowhere to go but everywhere, so just keep on rolling under the stars.” - Jack Kerouac.
ReplyDeleteHe's my favorite author and it's a shame he never rode a motorcycle...and was a raging alcoholic, but that's beside the point. Thanks for sharing.
Kerouac must have been a motorcyclist by heart, Robert. I am sure, he was.
DeleteAh, the open road beckons... Winter is hard for motorcyclists. I ride year-round except when there's ice on the road. Looking sadly out at my snow-covered bikes makes me want to visit blogs like yours!
ReplyDeleteHi Ally, thanks for stopping by. I used to be a year-rounder but that was at the Pacific We(s)t coast. In the Black Forest we get real winters, and snow tires are mandatory on bikes (well, on cars anyway), but I don't want to spend the dough. It's that time of the year when one simply has to deal with cabin fever... I am not good at it though.
DeleteBeautiful set of pictures Sonja!! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Brandy. Thanks for tagging along on the virtual ride.
DeleteThere's nothing like good memories and beautiful photos of places you've been to help you (and us) through the dreary winter.
ReplyDeleteIt's the best therapy I can think of, Karen.
DeleteGreat shots! I love the Alaskan roads. Hope to see them first hand some day.
ReplyDeleteI keep my fingers crossed, that you'll make it there, Thomas.
