We only get one run at life so might as well have fun on the way. (Geoff James)

After a rainy beginning of the day we skipped the idea of going for a scooter ride. The roads were slippery and we didn't want to take the risk. So half the day was spent with taking care of business a.k.a. house cleaning.
Around 6PM the heavenly sprinklers had been turned off, and Roland suggested a "little walk" in the woods. It started with hiking uphill for about a mile, stopping at a fountain for refreshment (yes, it is potable water), before it went on for another half an hour, which left Sonja huffing and puffing.
Next stop was an artesian well, with water coming directly out of a pile of rocks. It was delicious! And a refreshment was desperately needed.
Finally we had reached our turning point, it was all downhill from there, but strenuous nevertheless. With Sonja's still relatively fresh out of surgery leg protesting, we took it slow, stopped for yet another drink at a fountain, and crossed the virtual finish line two hours later. Meanwhile it had started raining hard, and we where not only dirty as pigs but also looking like wet dogs. It was a good hike though, it was fun even, and bonus we had be trail all to ourselves.

Lovely photos. That top one, with contrasting light and shadow against a--to say the least--dramatic sky... Just awesome! And I love the charming fountain. Thanks for sharing, y'all.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colors along the trail and springs and artesian wells along the trail are always a plus.
ReplyDeleteWhat a world we live in, where water out of the ground is viewed as likely undrinkable. And it always tastes best!
ReplyDeletewow, what an impressive sky in the first two pictures! looks like your leg will be back on track soon, so happy for you :-). Enjoy your Sunday.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great place to walk. Glad Sonja's leg is healing and you two are enjoying great hikes.
ReplyDeleteThose cloudy pics at first, quite nice!
