Another example of cultures clashing in a good way: This time, the Black Forest meets Italy. Found the ad in a window of a local garb shop, exclusively selling nothing but dirndl and lederhosen.
Did you know that there are lederhosen for girls but no dirndl for men? It's so confusing...

If I knew what a dirndl was I would demand one, under my right to religious freedom. The Vespas look good though.
ReplyDeleteDirndl added to the right ;-)
DeleteI like the ad they had in the window.
ReplyDeleteSo, did you buy the Dirndl or the lederhosen? I think we need a picture of you in each one. :-)
Brandy, I was, I am and I will always be a tomboy. Lederhosen, maybe but dirndl not in this life, no way!
DeleteI'm so confused I'm not sure what to say. ;) Well, I will say I think I remember girls way back in Jr. High speaking of dirndl skirts....is that possible?
ReplyDeleteChances are, that they might have been fashionable at one point when you were in high school…
DeleteDirndl have a long tradition. Austrian maids used to wear it as uniform in the 19th century, and these traditional costumes are found in all the Alp regions, and similar to Scottish tartan patterns, different colors of these garbs can be found in different regions.
