Party Alarm

The Venue - Can you spot our Vespas?
The Club Colours of the hosts

We are no big fans of motorcycle gatherings but this one was almost in front of our doorstep, so curiosity got the better part of us, and we hopped on the Vespas and paid it a visit. It was the summer event of the local MC Kurvengeister (something along the line of ghosts of the twisties), and open to all brands and guests.

Men in... skirts
Smart construction
Live music

The venue was efficiently organised, with lots of two-wheeler parking (cars had to stay away), a party tent with food, drinks and live music, and several bars with alcohol-free drinks much cheaper than spirited beverages. Food options were limited though as it was all meat-on-buns.

There was a mini-bike race, a burn-out section (we'll never get why people need to do and see this, and is smells badly) and a campsite for over-nighters.

A man's gotta do...
Soapbox is out beer box is in
A few nice bikes:

All-in-all nicely done, alas too many street fighter and rice burner types for my taste. Not many bikes looked like they were ever been taken on a motorcycle tour, and I am pretty sure that we have clocked more travel mileage on our Vespas than some of these over-tuned crotch rockets.

Party Alarm!

Impressions from the HARLEY DAVIDSON Euro Festival

After four days of riding I felt a bit bummed out, besides my leg gave me a bit of a hard time, so I was ready for a break. Gary was kind enough to offer me the back seat on Leading Ladies, his 2006 Road King, but not before giving the bikes a good clean up. I tried to argue that I would usually not wash my Sporty until season's over, but he made me do it anyway...

Before - After

I tell you, riding with Gary was quite the treat. If I ever had to give up riding my own, being pillion on a Road King is what I'd want to be.

Needless to say that Gary is a safe and experienced rider. He manoeuvred the bike as if there wasn't the extra weight of your's truly to consider.

To be honest, at first I felt a bit intimidated by the crowds down in St. Tropez. Being around too many people usually makes me feel a bit uncomfortable. But with all the beautiful motorcycles and boats around, I managed to completely forget about my issues. Now let the pictures do some talking:

Harleys are nice, but British bikes still get me excited.
Nice "boat".
Hello, Canada!

We also visited the custom bike show with some awesome models on display, however they didn't look very comfy to ride on.

Harley or Norton Scrambler? Sorry, but I'd still pick the Brit bike.
Look who sneaked into the venue: Bobskoot made it to the Festival, too!
Nice rods!

Impressionen vom Euro Festival

The Roadshow

Mopped: /ˈməʊppɛd/
nown (German)
Affectionate pet name for any kind of motorized two-wheeler.

Well, originally we had planned to spend the weekend cleaning the house and attending to overdue chores but when a friend told us about a motorcycle roadshow in Karlsruhe, which is about 100km away from where we live, all good intentions where forgotten. 15 top brands, 130 bikes and a boatload of fun! So we saddled Bella and Alonzo, our tour-proof Vespas, and off we went.
The future is here!
A Swiss engineered cabin motorcycle by Peraves.
The Monotracer
On the Asian market since ages, finally arriving in Europe
The legendary Yamaha SR 400
Could it be? A sexy Beemer! Meet the Bavarian cafe racer BMW R nine T!
One Yammy making it high on the list of desires. The XV950R. And bonus, no grease sling for a change, it comes with a belt drive.
My new trail bike (I wish!), the Suzuki VanVan RV125
Another Japanese classic finally entering Europe.
Getting in line for a test ride.
Me want too!
My favourite today: I always wanted to ride a Guzzi!
The V7 Classic makes my day!
My radiating smile is getting captured by the press.
Getting ready to rumble (and rumble the Guzzi does awesomely well!)
My absolute favourite today!
Roland meanwhile got to test the all new Suzuki Burgman 650.
The verdict: It's a big boat, super tanker or aircraft carrier size.
The BMW C600, a sports bike dressed in scooter clothes.
Agressive, maneuverable, likeable.
The verdict is pending.
On our way home we got wet (again!) but we had geared up well, and arrived home safely, our chores already patiently waiting for us.
