This morning I kept riding until the fuel indicator went on. As a matter of fact I got a little nervous and targeted the next gas station within 20 km reach, to be on the safe side. Since the weather didn't cooperate, the sky was grey and it drizzled every once in a while, I decided to make Harrison Hot Springs my turn-around point. For lunch I ordered an avocado-shrimp panini and engaged in a nice conversation with a retiree who rode a Harley Davidson.
He recommended I should ride a bit along the East shore of Harrison Lake but not further than Green Point.
But I noticed a sign pointing to
Sasquatch Provincial Park, and ignoring his friendly advice I followed a mud / gravel road. It was quite the experience. The road was so slippery that I didn't dare to stop until I arrived at Hicks Lake.
But it was well worth the trip. The place was quiet and pristine and I wished I had brought a thermos with tea and a book for a nice little break. Eventually I turned around and stopped again at the shore of Harrison Lake. It's drizzling again.
Slowly I make my way back home through the hinterland around HWY 7.
By the end of today's journey, six hours later, my odometer showed approximately 300km more. The roads less traveled always take time, but I wouldn't want to miss a minute.
