But I noticed a sign pointing to Sasquatch Provincial Park, and ignoring his friendly advice I followed a mud / gravel road. It was quite the experience. The road was so slippery that I didn't dare to stop until I arrived at Hicks Lake.
But it was well worth the trip. The place was quiet and pristine and I wished I had brought a thermos with tea and a book for a nice little break. Eventually I turned around and stopped again at the shore of Harrison Lake. It's drizzling again.
Slowly I make my way back home through the hinterland around HWY 7.
By the end of today's journey, six hours later, my odometer showed approximately 300km more. The roads less traveled always take time, but I wouldn't want to miss a minute.

Nice trip report Sonja :)
ReplyDeleteI think you picked the right color for your bike. The yellow is so cheery set against the cool colors of the Northwest.
I dipped into the reserve on the ninja this week. I have an "E" that flashes when fuel is down to a certain amount. Boy that E looked like it was shouting by the time I got to the gas station, even though I know I still had some fuel in the tank. It makes it hard to focus on the road...all you see is that flashing indicator...
SonjaM:
ReplyDeleteit's one thing you have to do. fill up a couple of times as soon as the light flashes to see how much the tank holds, then you will know how many emergency miles you have left

A low fuel light? What a concept. Mine just starts to miss and run really rough before I remember to switch to reserve. Beautiful mountains. I'm looking forward to southern BC.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous Sonja! Y'know, I suspect that we bikers experience (and appreciate) far more of our respective countries than ever cagers do.
ReplyDelete@bluekat: This is exactly the feeling I had: the fuel indicator shouting at you while you try to pay attention to the road and traffic...
ReplyDelete@bob: Yes, did as you said, it looks like it carries approx. 4l, so I could probably go another 100km before I am running dry.
@Richard: I am pretty sure that you will enjoy it here, although traffic might be quite a bit more than you are used to up North.
@Geoff: I couldn't agree more with what you say ;-)
You are now getting really adventurous taking Nella to lots of new places!
ReplyDelete@Gary: Nella makes it so easy and so much fun, I can't wait to go on major road trips...
