Tools and gear for the road is already packed, and laundry is done. The air pressure is checked, the bike is lubed and fueled, and ready to go. I convinced my fellow traveler to assist me but all I wanted was his company in the garage. I did the work myself and had to use quite a bit of Fast Orange afterwards, to get my hands back into an 'office presentable' shape. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed working on my bike, and I am seriously considering taking motorcycle maintenance lessons to learn more about it. I am not ready for a career change just yet, but one never knows...
Only a few more days to go before my riding buddy and I will be leaving for Oregon. Our stop-overs will be in Toppenish, Bend, Lincoln City and Tumwater, all in all about 2,000 km. That doesn't sound much, but I haven't been on a major road trip in thirteen years, so besides my excitement a little nervousness might be in order. We are looking forward meeting some fellow bloggers, as well as having some beach time. I can't wait to test Nella's (and my) roadworthiness. Meanwhile my significant other will - for a change - be left in charge of our household.

Sonja:
ReplyDeleteI am also packed except for my electronics and chargers and the little things add up, weight wise. Your map is the basic outline but I have tweeked it a bit to include Shaniko to Antelope and you forgot Mt St Helens. Also I have a Favourite restaurant on the beach at Oceanside where we could have a meal if we time it right, then there's the lighthouse loop . . . so many roads and so little time . . .

Glad that pipe wrench did the trick with your last minute maintenance chores -:)
ReplyDeleteSo are you spending your first night in the Alderwood Mall area North of Seattle?
Sonja
ReplyDeletehmmm, MY beemer mechanic looks nothing like the one pictured in your posting....
looking forward to your explorations with Bobskoot though I fear an onslaught of pink and yellow crocs....
Looks like an awesome trip Sonja! It's amazing just how good you get as a rider when you do a long continuous haul as opposed to short day trips.
ReplyDeleteSo your "significant other" will be indulging in food he's not normally allowed whilst you're away? I'm thinking of McD's & KFC washed down with a 6 pack - you know, healthy man-stuff :-)
Have a fantastic and safe trip....
@Bob: This sounds fantastic. I will certainly have to update the map while we are underway.
ReplyDelete@Chuck: Oh, that's a wrench?
@Charlie6: Oh well, you can't have it all, can you ;-) There will be crocs galore, I promise.
@ Geoff: I hope that my riding skills will be improving a lot. I still have to work the twisties a lot better. You can bet that Mr M. will be having all the 'healthy' stuff.
Everyone is doing the maintenance thing this week. Ron changed his first tire this weekend. we took pics, but I don't know if I'll get a chance to post up this week. I managed to wash the ninja (for the first time!)
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to Saturday! :)
The more women lifting a wrench, the better! Bravo.
ReplyDelete@Kari: You washed the bike? How did that happen. See you soon.
ReplyDelete@ Stacy: You're way ahead of me.
