Mission possible

I didn't do anything! My fellow traveler wanted to 'window-shop' for motorcycles, and we went to the two obvious places that had drawn his attention before: The beemer store and the Harley Davidson shop. His obvious choice was the R1200GS, and the bike fits him very well, it doesn't fit our budget yet though.
A lot of bling bling in the Harley Store, but none of the models was nearly as interesting as the 30 years anniversary GS before.
Supersize me: Only available at Harley Davidson: a 5XL T-Shirt, or is it a tent?

The good thing: my fellow traveler really wants to get back on a motorcycle, and soon. And where there's a will there's a way. Maybe I should get him this for his birthday to start with:

  1. Having test rode a F650GS, F800GS and a R1200GS in July at the rally, I must admit that I really enjoyed riding the F650GS the best. The R1200GS felt really heavy but handled well. All of them had more power and much better brakes than my old airhead. The only thing that surprised me was the pressure on my chest when riding fast. The full fairing on my bike provides really good coverage.

Good luck finding the right bike...

  2. The R1200GS is quite a handful sometimes. I'm farkling mine to my liking and it's an insanely capable bike. I found the weight compared to the F800GS no issue at all and Roland is definitely tall enough to handle anything.

Also, the R is still 25kg lighter than the SilverWing. Unbelievable but true.

Andrea is still practicing on her little thumper and probably wants to get into something a little bit bigger next year or so. Since she has something incredibly light and docile, she really learns to rider better. Something to think about. But the R1200GS is quite a nice bike, I agree.

@Richard: I had an F800GS before I got the R1200GS - it's quite a different character. The F is easier, more nimble in the beginning, it takes a while to get really into the R. And you have to like the boxer ...
