My Couch is being surfed

Monday saw the arrival of a mystery rider from Britain. 

After removing the helmet the lad wasn't that mysterious anymore. Meet, Chris Cope, a Texas born writer and blogger of TheMotorcycleObsession, living in his adopted country Wales. Nine years ago the American native moved to Wales to study Welsh. He earned his masters degree,  became a language teacher, fell in love with the country and subsequently with a girl named Jenn (maybe it was the other way round), and ended up staying for good.

When Chris spilled the beans on his motorcycle journey to Tuscany on his V-Strom, it was clear (to me it was) that he had to travel through the Black Forest, and stay with us. And so he did.

He is a polite, and modest guy, and easy to accommodate. Under no circumstances he wanted to be a burden. And he surely wasn't. He was indeed the perfect guest. So sweet.

Alas, our timing was a bit off (I had to work late, and Roland needed to get up a 5 a.m. the next morning), so we only had a few hours window left in the day to get known to each other, chat, eat, drink, chat some more, hence, it seemed best to combine all and go to our local hangout for pasta and salad.

Roland soon after had to make a beeline for the bedroom, and Chris and I continued sharing each others views on traveling, motorcycling, weather, beliefs, people, our lives as immigrants, and the list went on.

The next morning I felt sorry for Chris, since I needed to send him on his way before 8 a.m. In exchange for getting up early while on vacation I made him sit down for a traditional German breakfast (he sure liked Nutella!).

Auf meiner Couch wird gesurft

Am Montag Abend hatten wir Besuch von einem mysteriösen Mopped-Fahrer... aber nachdem er seinen Helm abgenommen hatte, war er nicht mehr ganz so geheimnisvoll. Es handelte sich um Chris Cope, einen in Texas geborenen Schriftsteller und Blogger, der in Wales lebt. Vor neun Jahren reiste er dorthin um Walisisch zu studieren, machte darin seinen Abschluss, verliebte sich in das Land und in ein Mädchen namens Jenn (so oder andersrum) und blieb. Als Chris auf seinem Blog über seine geplante Reise in die Toskana sprach, was klar (zumindest für mich), dass ihn seine Route durch den Schwarzwald und somit bei uns vorbei führen musste. Also luden wir ihn ein, und so kam er vorbei.

Chris ist der perfekte Gast, bescheiden, höflich und wollte bloß keine Umstände machen. Richtig süß. 

Leider hatten wir ein schlechtes Timing, da ich bis spät arbeiten und Roland bereits am nächsten morgen um 5 Uhr aufstehen musste. So blieb uns nur ein kleines Fenster um uns ein wenig kennen zu lernen, zu quatschen, was zu trinken und zu essen und weiter zu quatschen, also kombinierten wir das Ganze und gingen auf Salat und Pasta zu unserem Stammlokal im Dorf. 
Roland machte sich danach früh auf ins Bett, während Chris und ich uns noch über das Reisen, Motorradfahren, Wetter, Religionen, Menschen, das Leben als Immigranten und vieles mehr unterhielten.
Am nächsten Morgen tat es mir echt leid, dass ich Chris schon so früh aus dem Bett werfen musste, aber ich wollte spätestens um halb neun in der Firma sein. Also machte ich ihm im Gegenzug noch ein typisch deutsches Frühstück. Nutella mochte er wohl besonders...
Es war ein Vergnügen, Chris zu Gast zu haben und wir wünschen ihm eine gute und sichere Reise.
