There were no raindrops tapping at my window when I woke up this morning, and I was geared up by 8AM and ready to make best use of the dry spell. It was a misty morning but the sun tried its best fighting its way through the white shroud.
The warming rays looked like they drilled holes through the fog, to chase the cold away. It had merely 12C (54F) when I started my little jaunt.
And with the sun rising higher the air quickly warmed up to 18C (64F) while I continued meandering through the valley. Now, that felt so much better.
Water levels were quite high due to the previous rainfalls and the river carried a lot of muddy waters and debris.
I was looking for an easy access to the river but the banks were too muddy and the grass too slippery to safely maneuver down the scooter so I decided to stay on the dyke road.
While the mist had given way to the sun, the mountains were still wrapped in clouds. And I had no desire to leave my warm place by the river. I wished I had brought along a thermos with hot tea and a sandwich. It looked like an ideal picnic spot.
The weather continued to look promising, and I kept rolling on. Not too fast though, because the debris and mud on the tracks made for a slippery slide at times.
Sometimes I forget that a Vespa is not a dual sports bike or ATV. But it is so easy to neglect due to its light weight and maneuverability. As a result, Alonzo will need a good wash... or maybe I'll just wait for another rainfall.
I love the the beauty of grown crops before the harvest. Not long from now the fields will be harvested, and lie fallow until next spring.
My valley, my steed, my time. Two wonderful hours spent in fresh air. Life is good!

Morgennebel

You've really outdone yourself Sonja with this last batch of pictures!
ReplyDeleteDom, you are far too kind. Thank you ;-)
DeleteSome lovely pictures there Sonja that really convey the feeling, as well as a view, of the countryside.
ReplyDeleteThanks too for the german version of the text, a great help in re-activating my very rusty german, it needs all the help it can get. I mostly find the german sites you link to too heavy going at the moment but with more practice, who knows?
I hope the German text works for you it is mostly the same context, alas some sayings or wordplays are impossible to translate. It's a good exercise for me as well, mostly to get the spelling and punctuation right.
DeleteBeautiful pictures Sonja.
ReplyDeleteA nice misty mountain hop. The photos of the sun coming out with the mist still hanging around are the best. The 7th one down is my favorite.
Thanks for sharing.
Brandy, I am glad you like it. The quality of my snapshots has its limitations. It is much more beautiful in real life. You should come and have a look for yourself ;-)
Delete+1 on the photos. Absolutely beautiful. Also love the ones with the sunshine through the mist.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos! I found with my Vespas I tended to get into much more trouble with them than with the Triumph. Trouble of the, "what's down here?" or "screw it, I'm taking the sidewalk" variety. ;) I can definitely see using one as a dual-sport when the need arises.
ReplyDeleteBetween you and Michael I've just run out of things to say about your landscape and photos. If I go quiet it's because I just can't say Beautiful in any other way.
ReplyDeleteOut done indeed....absolutely fabulous Sonja. How could anyone not dream of riding through an environment like that??
ReplyDeleteSonja, your blog posts are like mini virtual vacations in paradise.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant pictures ... could be a perfect advertising for Vespa!
