The national monument sticks out of the scenery like a sore thumb. The basaltic rock formation features the typical polygon structure of lava which had cooled down slowly. Maybe this landmark may not be as well known as Devil's Tower or Giant's Causeway but it's very accessible, and with the lake in front and the marvellous weather it makes for a photographer's dream and is well worth a visit.

The campground at our next stop in Mezní Louka is a mere parking lot with access to facilities and a handful of shacks. However, the brand-new accommodation next to the lot caught our attention, and soon we indulged in the luxury of a nice room for a change.

The food across the street consist of simple but tasty regional cuisine, and after a good meal (and beer) we are all set for the next day's hike to the famous limestone arch of Pravčická Braná.
Nice rock formation! I often wondered, while there, how to get up to the top of Devil's tower...you got some nice pics near and on top of the Giant's Organ.
ReplyDeleteIt was a bit of a climb but possible, Dom. (even in Crocs...)
