Potes Village - In Potes

The town in the valley is less than a mile away from the campground so we took the opportunity to walk. 

Der Ort liegt nur wenige Kilometer entfernt im Tal, also machen wir uns zu Fuß auf den Weg. 

Due to its strategic position in a valley, at the estuary of two rivers, and open to all four cardinal points Potes village - although never grown big - has been around for quite a while. It was mentioned first in the 9th century.

Potes liegt strategisch günstig in einem in alle vier Himmelsrichtungen offenen Tal, an zwei Flußmündungen und existiert - obwohl nie groß gewachsen - schon eine ganz Weile. In den Büchern wurde der Ort erstmalig im 9. Jahrhundert erwähnt.

The old city core is representative for the culture and architecture found in this region. We are hungry but restaurants wouldn't open until 8 p.m. So we took the opportunity for a closer look of the ancient roads and buildings.

Der Altstadtkern kann als repräsentativ für die Kultur und Architektur dieser Region betrachtet werden. Da die Restaurants nicht vor 20 Uhr öffnen werden, nutzen wir die Gelegenheit und schauen uns die alten Straßen und Gebäude etwas genauer an.

Saved from starvation - Vor dem Hungertod gerettet

After a good meal consisting of various little tapas our powers were restored and we were ready to hike into the sunset back to the campground.

Gestärkt vom guten Essen mit vielen kleinen Tapas können wir den Aufstieg zurück zum Campingplatz wagen. Und so gehen wir dem Sonnenuntergang entgegen.
