The Venue - Can you spot our Vespas?

We are no big fans of motorcycle gatherings but this one was almost in front of our doorstep, so curiosity got the better part of us, and we hopped on the Vespas and paid it a visit. It was the summer event of the local MC Kurvengeister (something along the line of ghosts of the twisties), and open to all brands and guests.

The venue was efficiently organised, with lots of two-wheeler parking (cars had to stay away), a party tent with food, drinks and live music, and several bars with alcohol-free drinks much cheaper than spirited beverages. Food options were limited though as it was all meat-on-buns.

There was a mini-bike race, a burn-out section (we'll never get why people need to do and see this, and is smells badly) and a campsite for over-nighters.

All-in-all nicely done, alas too many street fighter and rice burner types for my taste. Not many bikes looked like they were ever been taken on a motorcycle tour, and I am pretty sure that we have clocked more travel mileage on our Vespas than some of these over-tuned crotch rockets.

Wir sind an sich keine großen Fans von Motorrad-Parties, aber dieses fand quasi vor unserer Haustür statt, und so sprangen wir auf unsere Vespas und besuchten das Event. Es handelte sich um die Sommerparty des lokalen Klubs MC Kurvengeister und war offen für alle Marken und Gäste. Die Sache war prima organisiert mit massig Parkplätzen für Zweiradfahrer (Autos mussten draußen bleiben), einem Zelt mit Essen, Getränken und Live Musik. Da waren diverse Bars, und anti-alkoholische Getränke waren wesentlich billiger als alkoholische (gut so!). Leider waren die kulinarischen Optionen sehr begrenzt, es gab nur Fleisch (Hamburger, Wurst, Steak, Fleischkäse u.ä.) auf Brötchen. Am Nachmittag fand ein Mini-Bike Rennen statt, es wurden Burn-outs geboten (warum man das macht, werden wir nie verstehen...) und im Hintergrund lag der Zeltplatz für die Übernachtungsgäste. Alles in allem war es nett aufgemacht, aber im ganzen sehr Joghurtbecher- und Streetfighter-lastig. Es waren ein paar wenige Tourer unter dem Publikum, und ich könnte wetten, dass unsere Vespas mehr Reise-Kilometer herunter hatten, als viele dieser aufgemotzten Reiskocher.
